Drift Away is a two-bedroom waterfront cottage in Spanish Wells that earns its name with a private over-water gazebo, a hammock strung between casuarinas, and a sun deck right at the water’s edge — three different places to watch the same open water from three different angles.
THE SPACE
The interior is light and well-finished. Pale aqua walls rise to soaring vaulted ceilings with exposed dark-wood beams; wide-plank hardwood floors run throughout. The kitchen island doubles as a breakfast bar, the living room has white slipcovered sofas, and the dining area opens through to a covered porch with direct water views. Both bedrooms have king beds and private en-suites with glass-enclosed showers. Downstairs, the king faces windows looking straight out to the water. Upstairs, the second king opens to its own private upper deck.
OUTDOOR SPACES
The waterfront setup is the best reason to book. The private over-water gazebo sits at the end of a short pier — chairs face the open sea and you’re surrounded by water on three sides. A hammock hangs between casuarina trees along the shore. The main sun deck has lounge chairs right at the water line. At dusk the gazebo lights glow over glassy water and the horizon goes orange; it’s the kind of evening that’s hard to replicate anywhere else at this price point on the island.

LOCATION
Spanish Wells is a small, tight-knit fishing island off the northern tip of Eleuthera in The Bahamas. The island is explored entirely by golf cart — no rental cars, no traffic. The main beach runs along the western shore; a small grocery store, fish market, and a handful of restaurants and bars serve the community. Access requires a short flight to North Eleuthera Airport (ELH) and a 5-minute water taxi to the island.
