Rest Ashore, Spanish Wells

Rest Ashore announces itself at the gate. The exterior is sky-blue stucco with pink shutters and trim, a bougainvillea-draped pergola archway in pink and white, and a “Rest Ashore” sign above the front door flanked by two white rocking chairs. It’s a proper island welcome before you step inside — and the interior keeps the same level of care.

THE SPACE

Kitchen and Dining
The renovation is thorough. White shaker cabinets with gold hardware, a glass mosaic tile backsplash, quartz countertops, and a complete stainless suite. The dining table is an ornate glass-top design with high-back wicker chairs, under a beaded chandelier — it looks more like a boutique hotel than a rental.

Living Room
Aqua-toned sofas, a peacock rattan armchair, and floating shelves lined with sea-life ceramics and coastal art. The space is curated without feeling overdone.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Both king bedrooms have rattan and seagrass headboards. Both bathrooms were renovated with marble-look tile walk-in showers behind glass doors — the master’s double vanity is especially generous.

OUTDOOR SPACES

The covered back porch has a hanging egg chair, wicker sofa, and ceiling fan. Behind it: a built-in stone-and-concrete BBQ station and an outdoor rain shower in a charming pink picket enclosure. A complimentary 4-seat Yamaha golf cart is included. The famous Spanish Wells beach — with its swing set — is one minute down the road.

LOCATION

Spanish Wells is a small, tight-knit fishing island off the northern tip of Eleuthera in The Bahamas. The island is explored entirely by golf cart — no rental cars, no traffic. The main beach runs along the western shore; a small grocery store, fish market, and a handful of restaurants and bars serve the community. Access requires a short flight to North Eleuthera Airport (ELH) and a 5-minute water taxi to the island.
